The Ballroom of Romance presents... A Paddy's Day Eve piss-up. Ballroom #26 Tuesday 17th of March Doors 9pm €6, free CD-r for the first 100. Featuring: Large Mound Weapons of Mass Destruction Carnival Northstation Large Mound: Veterans of the Dublin Independent music scene, the Mound play good old fashioned rock skewed with a lo-fi edge that brings to mind Sebadoh, Dinosaur Jr. and, perhaps, Thin Lizzy! Their excellent LP "Raised on Rock" is still in shops and the band are gearing up to record the follow up in the next few months. hhtp://www.groove.ie/largemound Weapons of Mass Destruction Featuring members of Paper Cop and United Bible Studies, WMD play high energy, improvised psychobilly/punk (insert ludicrous adjective here!) in short song like bursts instead of the epic jams you might expect from their other bands. Last seen at the Spiegeltent in the Dublin Fringe Festival, the weapons have released one live recording thus far which has been described as "Raw as F*ck!". This is a band manifesto if ever there was one. http://www.desertedvillage.com Carnival Carnival are new comers to the scene, playing experimental rock music with distincly prog and jazz twists. Northstation: Northstation is yet another incarnation of the talented and prolific Steve Fanagan. Expect dark droning, looping guitar soundscapes. The new Northstation album "bears" is out soon on the excellent Compactrisc Label. http://www.stevefanagan.com
