*Star HotHouse Flowers Thursday 26th Feb Tickets from Ticketmaster on sale Monday 2nd Feb *Star Nightclub & Venue @ Star & Crescent Trinity St Drogheda 041 9873111 Since the heady days of the legendary Boxing Club on the quays, Drogheda has held a proud and rightful reputation as one of the most eager and enthusiastic towns on the live gig circuit. For many years now that has unfortunately not been the case for a town of such importance.Thankfully this is about to change, with the opening of the Northeast’s biggest live venue and club, *Star. The Club is part of The Star and Crescent complex, which houses, The Crescent bar, The famed Green Lady Restaurant (formally of Termonfeckin, Co Louth) and the *Star club and venue. Said Eamon Farrell.....one of the backers of the new project "this is a very exciting time for me.... were all really looking forward to a great opening night in Drogheda on the 26th Feb.. you couldn't ask for a better Opening act than The Hothouse Flowers. This sets the benchmark for the quality of entertainment that we intend to provide in the future. Its great to be associated with a Town like Drogheda, which has been at the forefront of live music and entertainment for years. 'expect to see us all in Drogheda on a regular basis, and with that new motorway, sure its only up the road form Dublin or Belfast." For many years most of the major touring international and national acts, that played Dublin and Belfast, simply by-passed the music –starved lovers of Drogheda and its vast surrounding catchment area. But no longer, with news that from the end of February the new venue will be opening its doors to the public with an array of leading Irish and International Music, Comedy and theatre acts set to perform. Boasting state of the art technical facilities with a full PA and lighting production, and in house 8k rig, this venue will set it apart from anything in North Leinster. With a capacity of 800 for standing shows and 400 for seated shows this venue is set to put Drogheda and live music back on the international map. Stay tuned for upcoming news of new shows to be announced : Other acts lined up in the coming weeks include, Jack L, The undertones, Mundy, Pat Short and The Sawdocters, with shows later in the year from, Paddy Casey, David Kitt and The Frames, Jerry Fish, and Tommy Tiernan.
