Do you ever stumble across artists who recyle the same sounds so much that every song they record sounds virtually identical. I reckon that Alison Goldfrapp has released the same song but with different titles about five times in the last few years. When one of her songs comes on in the backround I have to wait until the chorus to figure out if it's Strict Machine or Train or Ooh La La.

Another example might be Snow Patrol. It's not that obvious at first but 'You're All I Have' seems melodically to have strong echoes of 'Chocolate'.
Also see U2 'Beautiful Day'/'Miracle Drug'

yeah, I agree with you Antistar.
Benni: most of the stuff (apart from 'the hits') on BRMC's debut are very similar, but Howl was a total departure, so you can't be too hard on them.
RHCP's new single sounds like everything they've done in the past decade.

But people only know the 4 seasons so most don't notice.

RE: BRMC - theres a lot of stuff on the debut and on the second release 'take them on on your own' that you can literally sing the same lyrics over. its shameless! Aint heard Howl yet tho - lost faith with them after that!

Yeah Howl was a complete surprise. In that it was good. And not s**t. Like BRMC.

The Hothouse Flowers. Every song a turgid, rambling mess of half baked diddly aye sh*te. It still baffles me how they achieved such success on the Irish scene.

Coldplays a fairly obvious example as well

The super furry animals album "Mung" sound like one big repetitive song. Listened to one song on repeat about 4 times before i copped what was going on.
The Doors can be hard to differenciate too

How about naming bands or artists who's songs don't sound like each other?
