Two vastly different gigs lined up for the BBR this weekend both of ‘em well worth a look! Saturday 31st July: TOMMY HALFERTY ORGAN TRIO (Jazz) e8 / 9pm Members: Tommy Halferty – Guitar Justin Carroll – Organ Conor Guilfoyle – Drums A fresh and funky approach to the trio format from guitar maestro Tommy Halferty in this ensemble with elements of John Abercrombie and John McLaughlin and of course original material from Halfertys extensive catalogue with a hard, grooving edge courtesy of Justin Carroll at the Hammond console. The Trio is completed by one of Ireland’s finest rhythmic exponents, Conor Guilfoyle behind the kit. Sunday 1st August: Jo Tta Kun + Oroz (World / Ethnic Percussion) e7 / 8pm Jo Tta Kun play a unique Basque percussion instrument, Txalaparta (pronounced 'chalaparta'), which they successfully fuse with other Basque traditional instruments (txistu and alboka) and African percussion. Jo Tta Kun was created in 2000 with the purpose of developing Txalaparta and combining it with other rhythms, materials and instruments. Since then they have performed at many cultural events in Basque Country, as well as at the opening act of several Rock gigs, so they are hard to pigeon hole! Support on the night will be provided by an authentic 5-6 piece Cuban Group “Oroz” who play sing / play Latin fusion, reggae, salsa and samba. More details of Jo Tta Kun as well as all gigs at the BBR for August are available on our brand spanking new website www.theboomboomroom.tv (flash player required). Please let me know if the flash site plays on your computer / browser as it is still testing and I’d love some feedback if possible. Cheers! The Boom Boom Room is located just off the top of O’Connell Street @ Conway’s Pub 70 Parnell St Dublin 1.

This is a really nice place to play and the Microset Sessions is one of the nicest Singer songwriter nites around, candles, cosy, good sound. Also, if anyones into Jazz then this is defo the place for you too, Its not pretentious like some other nights and venues... Anyhows, thats my two cents, Do check the site out and decide for yo self www.theboomboomroom.tv
