Cluas Gigs of the Fortnight
The best gigs across Ireland during the period 12 June to 25 June 2006
Gig of the fortnight is........ Bob Dylan |
Where and When? Nowlan Park, Kilkenny - 24th June Why? It may have escaped your attention but there are a few teams having a bit of a kickabout in Germany right now and as a result gigs are a bit thin on the ground. But there is one that does look particularly attractive. Bursting onto the folk scene in the earl 60's the man born Robert Zimm? why am I even doing a preview of this. IT's BOB DYLAN.
Support comes in the form of the Flaming Lips.

Best of the Rest |
Who? Duke Special Where and When? Whelan's, Dublin - 16th June It's been a pretty good 12 months for Duke Special. Nominated for a Choice Music Award, voted by viewers of RTE's Other Voices as the best performer on the show's last series and really beginning to find an audience for his considerable talents. He's spent much of the year touring the UK but the Belfast native plays an all too rare Dublin gig in Whelan's on the 16th. |
Who? Neosupervital Where and When? Trinity Rooms, Limerick- 16th June Crawdaddy, Dublin - 24th June Cyprus Avenue, Cork - 26th June Regular readers of this gig guide will be familiar with my love for one of this countries best live acts, newbies should just take me at my word that when I say that the gigs of Tim O'Donovan's solo project is chock-full and jam-packed of electro-pop brilliance.
There's a new single out next month and a debut album in September, boy oh boy.

Who? Arab Strap Where and When? TBMC, Dublin - 16th June Empire Music Hall, Belfast - 19th June Since Malcolm Middleton and Aidan Moffat formed Arab Strap back in 1995 they've proven themselves to be very prolific. Since they released ?The Week Never Starts Round Here? in 1997 they've released another 5 studio albums and 2 live sets. The most recent of those original efforts being this year's ?The Last Romance?.
The duo play a pair of Irish dates in June.
