Pedestrienne
began life as The Diesel Queens at the beginning of 1999, before having to
change their name for legal reasons in January 2000. Gigging since August 1999
they have already got support acts for Aslan, Cuba and Watercress. With an
original setlist over an hour and a half in length they have been
headlining regularly around Dublin as well having played a load of college
venues around the country. Having successfully reached the final stages of
several battle of the bands Pedestrienne also made the final cut of 30 bands out
of over 300 for the Heineken / Hot Press Green Energy Band Challenge. Their
first 4-track demo has received airplay on both Dave Fanning's and Uaneen
Fitzsimon's shows and also got a good review in Hot Press and in the Sunday
World (where Eddie Rowley described it as 'excellent' in his remix column).
Jackie Hayden of Hot Press described the new material as an 'infectiously catchy
modern twist on sixties merseybeat ... it's not often one comes across a young
Irish band who knows what choruses are, so one can only join in'. Pedestrienne
describe their music as intelligent pop music with strong folk-rock leanings,
Bob Dylan and Van Morrison playing pop-rock songs, sorta. Pedestrienne are:
Peco Mc Loughlin (Vocals, Guitars, Harmonica)
Seoirse Doherty (Bass, Backing Vocals)
D.C. Piano (Keyboards, Backing Vocals)
Gabhain Neary (Drums)
