Gotta say, Republic of Loose's new album, super groovy, sound of da summer, bangin', stylin', groovin', sweet as, happy days.

Well, it is explained in the Intro track ... Plus its kinda apt, seeing as Christy Moore beat them to No.1

Great, great live band. Probably the best band in the country at the moment but will I buy the album.....? No, and I don't know why.

Good piece in the Tribune on them last weekend by the way. I just don't get them that much, enjoyed them the one time I saw them live though.

From the Tribunes review of Snowpatrol in NYC ... "Spare a thought, however, for supporting act Republic Of Loose, who . . . minus the evangelical following they pull back home . . . fell somewhat flat with the laid back NYC crowd, despite lead singer Michael Pyro's reliably witty banter. Calling your crowd a bunch of 'homos' doesn't necessarily always do the trick, dude."

http://home.eircom.net/entertainment/CDs/ Good review of the album featuring my new favourite collective noun of all time: "a tracksuit of gurriers"

    Misogynistic and homophobic. Interesting.

I actually think the first album is far better. Maybe I need to let it grow on me more but it seems overly long and not as many stand-alone tunes that made their debut so impressive.

nah, I think the production is far superior on this one and even the sounds are way better, 'I'm Greedy' is fantastic. Saw them in Eamonn Dorans a couple of weeks ago, but look forward to seeing them in a better and less crowded venue in the very near future. It's a pity that the record is only getting a release in Ireland at the moment, a simultaneous one in Britain would have been great.
