Any band who were even vaguely popular in the 80s are all of a sudden popping back up. Why? Didn't we suffer enough before?

well to be honest, in my opinion a lot of music in the 80's was w**k but it would be stoopid to imply that there was no good music made in the 80's. if you dont like the La's I could understand. |

aye lee mavers must have run into some financial troubles! No harm done though, the Las is an absolutely amazing album, i love it. Perhaps "there she goes" doesn't do it justice, but there is definitely something special on that record

No there's some great music from the 80s (U2 anyone?) and The LAs were good but come on it's milking it at this stage. New Order, Tears For Fears, Queen etc are all back but do they offer anything different or worth paying attention to?

Im not a fan of New Order but theyve been around if maybe not very regularly through the 80's & 90's too. Tears for Fears & Queen, both w**k in my opinion so Im not even remotly bothered as to why they are reforming.
As for the La's, they had 1 album which was a classic in my opinion, as another poster here said 'There she Goes' probably doesnt do the record justice. As for having anything different or worth paying attention to ? I dont suppose we will know until we hear new material, and there will be a new album at some point, it is not a nostalgia tour full stop. |

a new Las album? that would be sweet, the original is amazing. Another thing about reforming bands on tour, is that you get to see them live, i saw the Doors of the 21st Century a while ago, and it was amazing, probably best gig ive ever been to.

as a very old person, i remember the last time The La's played Dublin (1989). they did three shows in one day - a free one in Trinity, a great one in McGonagles and then the Trinity Ball. Lovely lads.
there has been some mad articles written about them over the years, especially cos it seems that Lee went off his bin. At least a La's reunion means we won't have any new Cast records for a while......

This is the first I heard of them getting back together! Can't wait for this. The La's album was one of those ones where you could happily listen to all tracks with out Fastforwarding through any (note I didn't say skip, Didn't ave it on CD at the time! ouch!)
I agree with Eoin & Daragh on "There she goes". I gave the album (which I have since baught on CD) to a mate of mine only yesterday and he wasn't mad on taking it as all he'd heard off it was "there she goes". He has since been educated and would probobly agree as well. How long does anyone reckon they'll play for?
Mcgonagles....wow! Something is coming back to me....

Well, it looked like they had for a while! After releasing the underwhelming "Republic" in 1993, the band took an extended break and were involved in side projects such as Electronic, Monaco and The Other Two. No-one really knew it there was going to ever be another New Order album until they dropped "Get Ready" in 2001. |

i think people are gettin a bit ahead of themselves when they talk about the 'there she goes' track on the la's album. it mustn't be cool to like that song or something.
the song is an absolute classic, end of story!......don't mind all the crap covers done of it. as for the album, well it's also a classic too.
anybody heard the lost la's cds? break loose (84-86) and calling all (86-87). break loose isn't the may west at all but calling all is well worth the money

dont get me wrong, 'there she goes' is a great song but in my opinion there are a couple better on the album ie. 'Looking Glass'.

No-one's milking it as much as U2. They haven't done anything decent in years. They should just do what the Stones do and concentrate on touring their back catalogue as opposed to promoting their sub-standard new material. And in all fairness while they knocked out a few good tunes in the 80's there are countless artists from that decade who were making superior music to Bono and Co; The Pixies, The Stone Roses, The Smiths, Talking Heads etc. |
