Thought the musical discovery of 2004 was the Rags. Internationally it had to be Keane and The Ordinary Boys.

Agree with some of the above, ROL, Killers and Zutons...but also Little Wing and Rollers/SParkers

have made my discoveries in the last few months in Ireland, internationally i am going with: Keane, Killers, Thirteen Senses, Snow Patrol. In Ireland i loved Cortinaz79, the Rags, Wicker and Jove. The latter i saw in Voodoo(Finally!!) after all yer talking about them!!! I didnt see anything amazingly new but the review posted up is unbelievably harsh. Agreed such a tiny turnout must have been a massive disappointement and voodoo aint exactly the hotest of sound set up venues but i thought they overcame that big style & on what i saw last friday, i would go see em in the bashed up Olympia without probs. Think Cortinaz79 also have something special to offer.

The review that I did for Jove in Voodoo was an honest account of that gig. I will be going to see them in TBMC on Tuesday so hopefully they will prove all my earlier assumptions wrong.

In fairness Gar's review doesn't paint a good picture, but does sound like that he wasn't being harsh for the sake of it, but maybe a review from a different point of view would be interesting.

I tried to point out the exact areas where Jove failed to entertain me as a listener. Yes, it is harsh but not overly. I think that they have the ability to improve greatly and hopefully I will see/hear them in better form next week. At least, the review got two people talking about it. Thought this was meant to be a discussion board.

well i saw jove on Fri too, have seen em before and to be fair i kinda know their guitar player. i did think the review was a bit harsh. i think they're made for a bigger place but like ya said, poor turn out. i wouldn't review em myself but i'd love someone else whose never heard em to do so to see if ya both feel that way. all said, the music centre has crap sound too! i like the chapters by the way and have heard great things bout 66E.
