I think it's only fair that local bands should get a chance to play - same applies to all festivals, it serves as a launching pad for good local bands to play these festivals and get known.
As regarding the Things: they have the songs and the stage presence enough to show up some other bands that are playing it...so sure why not, give em a go!!!

I was at T in The PArk in Scotland last year, and they had something called the "T-break" tent. That was specially set up for up and coming, unsigned Scottish bands only, to give them a bit of exposure and a somewhat limited festival appearance. There were literally dozens of bands queueing up for that.
Perhaps Oxygen could be persuaded to do something similar for Irish bands, it is an Irish festival after all....

would a tent primarily dedicated to unsigned acts get much crowds later in the day when you have heavyweight acts in four or five tents. perhaps it would be better if they developed more on what they have - slotting in homegrown talent here, there and everywhere. What they could do is put more Irish bands on definitely but a specialised tent could be a disaster

Did anybody see The Things on Sunday night? They blew that other band off the stage! After a performance like that they should definately get Oxygen

Yeah i saw them for the first time on Sunday. I had intended on going to there gig with Marky Ramone. But for some reason they didn't play. Bit pissed off. But after Sundays performance i was well pleased. The other band was good but not in the same league as the things....

Now now shewolf the things and the tall storys are good mates more so than they are with you and they will get taller but not if you give them a bad name.

Shewolf, if that is your real name, I was at that gig in the Hub, I've never seen the Tallstories before so I gave them a chance like I do all bands and I can safely say they will never reach the high standards of The Things and I wouldn't care if I never seen or heard of them again.
That's not to say good luck to them and I hope they do well but The Things will never be in their shadows

IM NOT GONNA HAVE ANY OF THIS FIGHTING. AS A FIRM BELIEVER IN JESUS, I JUST HAVE TO SAY THAT AS LONG AS THEIR ARE THE THINGS/GARGLE AND THE TALLSTORIES/YOKES AND THE WEEKEND. THERE WILL BE FREINDSHIP. AND I WONT HAVE FERNANDEZ AND SHEWOLF ARGUING OVER WHO IS BETTER. THATS NOT WHAT ITS ABOUT NOW IS IT.WE LOVE THE THINGS AND IVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE THINGS LOVE US. AND FERNANDEZ - I DONT EXPECT TO SEE YOU AT ANY OF OUR GIGS IN ANYWAY SEEING AS WERE s**tE. SO YOU HAVE NOTHING REALLY TO WORRY ABOUT. LETS JUST ALL GET ALONG.
