    This shortlist of 14 Irish releases from 2007 was put together by the CLUAS Writers. Pick your favourite from among them and vote for it (you need to logged in to be able to vote!) If you are not already a member of this discussion board you can vote as well, but first you need to sign up for membership (it's free) via this registration page.

    Headgear, without a doubt! Absolutely stunning album. Saw them at the electric picnic and they are amazing live too!

    It was hard to pick just one, but I think Nervousystem (can you correct the spelling Eoghan or is it too late?) had just that little bit extra. A Lazarus Soul and Cathy Davey were the surprise albums of the year though, both breathtakingly good. Flight Cases was excellent too, only sorry I missed out on Headgear live when I was in Limerick recently.

    Thom Yorke's "Eraser" is blatantly missing from this list.... it's far superior to "In Rainbows".

    I can't change the spelling without rolling up my sleeves and going into the dark and dirty database (where I would most likely trip on a spanner and bring the whole site down). So, sorry, the misspelling will have to stay. eoghan.

    Just exercised the franchise there - looks like it'll be a close-run race between at least five of the list. Looking at that list (apart from one or two singer-songer-shouters on it) makes you realise that it was a fine year for Irish music. Hooray for us!
