Yeah it was a very interesting article alright, such a shame that they split, they seemed to have so much potential if things had gone their way.

Very good, heartfelt piece - but for me it doesn't really explain what caused the split.

Basically, 2 of the guys decided to leave the band - That's the reason! I know what ya mean though - there's no real explanation given as to WHY they decided to leave, but from what I can infer, it seems that they simply weren't ready or able to handle the commitment that their success brought them... I can understand - there's a big leap from playing in a band, doing gigs here & there, releasing tunes on MySpace & other sites to the level of full -on touring, album releases, dealing with press & full time managing the affairs of a band - especially when in the short term , there's very little money to be made - most band bleed money.. equipment, petrol money, acommodation for after gigs etc., all cost a lot - and that's not including the obligatory after show booze up!

Also, with 4 individuals in a band, it's almost impossible that all 4 will want the same things - the singer packed in his day job to work full time with the band, but maybe the others couldn't or were in college or had personal commitments / goals that they wanted to achieve... these things can make the slog of trying to "make it", somehow trite. Maybe the promise of success didn't stack up against their personal aspirations for their own lives?

I've never been a fan of the band, but I feel for the singer - he seems really hurt by the whole affair.. the only thing for it now is for him to get back up on his horse & start riding again - I'm sure he'll have no shortage of musicians willing to work with him & at this point, he's already learned a valuble lesson.

Maybe - I watch way too much South Park... I think my biggest influence these days is Cartman!!

Cartman: My speech is entitled "Ginger Kids". Children with red hair, light skin, and freckles. We've all seen them. On the playground, at the store, walking on the streets. They creep us out, and make us sick to our stomachs. I'm talking, of course, about Ginger kids.
    [slide projector clicks]

Cartman: Aw, sick! Gross! Ginger kids are born with a disease, which causes very light skin, red hair and freckles.
    [projector clicks]

Cartman: This disease is called "Gingervitis". Kids who have Gingervitis cannot be cured.
    [projector clicks]

    Cartman: Aw sick!
    [click]

    Cartman: Gross!
    [click]

Cartman: Yuck! Because their skin is so light, Ginger kids must avoid the sun.
    [class ooooohs]

Kyle: That's not true, fat ass! I have red hair, and I don't have to avoid the sun.

Cartman: I was getting to that if you'll let me. Some people have red hair, but not light skin and freckles. These people are called daywalkers.

Are any of the guys from the band involved in other projects now? I think I saw something about one of the guitarists playing with Cathy Davy or something?

I googled that & found this on a blog review of one of her gigs in Whelans...

"Every song was impeccably crafted with hooks out the ying-yang and not a single superfluous note played out of place. To that end praise should be heaped upon her band (including Bell X1's Paul Noonan on drums) for providing all sorts of lovely multi-part harmonies and odd percussion to fill out the songs but a special mention has to go to ex-Immediate everythingist Conor O'Brien on guitar, who played all sorts of subtle but fantastic parts ranging from slightly unsettling dissonance to countryish soloing."

    Thar ya go.

    Blah!
