There are lots of great bands on the circuit at the moment,LISTO, Johnny Pyro, Hi- Rise, The Things and Clouded Mouse to name but a few. The only thing is Irish labels dont seem to give a flying f**k. Whats needed is Hotpress, N.M.E and the like to take notice because the revolution will not be televised. Go see any of these bands and you'll no what im saying........
Listo only formed just formed over a year and have already made an impact. Its full on guitar dance music that not many bands can do, or do it properly. They manage to create a huge, full on sound blending electronica and heavy guitar beautifully. No dout one of the bands of 2003.(look out fo a E.P this year)Whacho!www.listo.monnfruit.com
I saw Johnny Pyro in the music centre and was blown away by there stylish guitar and soulfull frontman Mick Pyro. You cant take your eye's of Mick as he interacts with the crowd in a way that Otis Redding would be pround of. Pyro is a unique blend of soul, blues funk and Hip Hop. Not to be missed.......
I've been going to see Hi-Rise about two years and they just get better. With there crafty electronic and soulful tunes you cant help but bop around like a mad- man. They played Wittness rising and went down a storm. Its definitly time for one of Dublins most origenal
bands. Check out www.hi-rise.moonfruit.com
[:( This is as raw a garage band your ever going to see. With singer Neil bealting out the vocals and robbies thunderous basslines they make a highley in your face live band. With the Ambassader and gigs with the damed they doing something right.Lock your doors the Things are coming!
Flute's, Sax, Bongo's the hole lot. This is Happy Mondays meets Sly and the family stone.Clouded Mouse are doing something different and lovin every minute of it. I,ve only seen them once but couldn't get enough, keep it up motherf**kers.......
