Enjoyable weekend, tried very hard to see as many bands as possible, but it was often quite difficult with the conditions. didn't see any trouble, although there was quite a bit of mud throwing and things like that. i also think i got a veggie burger thrown at the back of my head. Saturday was much much better for me than Sunday, on which i think it just got a little much. excellent: the holdsteady delorntos Kings of Leon - oddly paced set however i found Tori Amos - a highlight Interpol - Arcade Fire Daft Punk - enjoyable. would've liked to have seen amy winehouse and also missed Charlotte Hatherly, Gogol Bordello and Brian Wilson through misplacing my timetable. Buses were fine also, although i had to stand on the way back and i was quite tired.

lots of annoying drunken c**ts in GAA jerseys slinging muck around and/or diving through it, then attempting to rub it on others. car parks closed and no refunds for my car parking ticket. thank f**k the line-up was deadly... Saturday Maccabees - A little disappointing. Really like the album, were very hot and cold live. The Green Room also boasted the worst sound of the weekend. Bravery - Meh. David Kitt - Better than expected. Had several rednecks in his backing band. Got the crowd to sing Olé,olé so he could win a bet - they didn't need much encouragement. Jerk. Brian Jonestown Massacre - Deadly. Then the tent started leaking and it was suddenly raining on stage, cue Anton freakout. Then a few more deadly tunes. Kings of Leon - Top notch. Saw them on Main stage at Glasto about 4 years ago, thought they were s**t then, but they were great this time round. Badly Drawn Boy - Badly Played set. wah-wah-waaaaah. Maximo Park - Perfect festival band. Interpol - Main reason I was there. Didn't disappoint. New songs sounded deadly. Air - Only caught last 15 mins. Was pretty good. Muse - Got bored of waiting after about 15 minutes and went off to QOTSA QOTSA - Stayed for about 4 songs. All new crap. Boring. Went home. Sunday Bloc Party - Really trying to do the whole stadium band thing now, with the clap alongs and what not. Seemed a bit forced. Played pretty well though. New songs are better live than on the album. BRMC - Stayed for 15 mins, seemed pretty good, but it was Shadow time. Shadow & Cut Chemist - was hoping for big things, but this sucked. Really sucked. Cold War Kids - Only know that one tune from phantom, but these lads are alright if a little bland. Arcade Fire - Excellent. Top class. But couldn't help but think how much better they'd be in a tent/smaller venue. Bright eyes - Caught the last 30 mins or so after Arcade Fire. Haven't listened to new album much, didn't play anything pre-wide awake. :/ New Young Pony Club - Meh. Klaxons - Got in just as they were finishing Golden Skans. Tent was *packed*. Pretty good, but not amazing. The National - Only caught first 3/4 songs as they were late comin on and I was off elsewhere, but they were excellent. Definitely gonna grab tickets for the Olympia gig. Daft Punk - Got an unbelievably big crowd. Same show as Marlay Park last year, still quality. Brian Wilson - Act of the weekend. Was running between DP and Wilson for first 15/20 mins or so, but Wilson won out. Great set - Wouldn't it be Nice, God Only Knows, Sloop John B, Good Vibrations, Heroes & Villains. The man himself has come along a lot and his own singing has improved greatly since I saw him last. His band were fantastic as per usual. Tent wasn't packed, but atmosphere was *great*.

Saturday: Enjoyed the Hold Steady although the sound was dreadful. The Twang have their very own Bez. Biffy Clyro were disappointing, they were a lot better supporting the Who at Marlay Park. Didn't think much of The Gossip. Snow Patrol give good stadium rock, plus they opened with Hands Open which is one of the best songs on the last album. Off to see QOTSA who didn't disappoint - Feelgood Hit of the Summer and Noone Knows were highlights. Sunday: Calvin Harris was good fun and I was surprised at how packed the tent was for him. CSS were brilliant, the singer had this mad lycra outfit on which she stripped out of halfway through the set. They kept throwing sweets into the audience too. Great set, really good crowd vibe too. Lucky I didn't miss their set as all the acts on the NME stage were rescheduled after Amy Winehouse pulled out. ( Ironically, I heard later that Pete Docherty actually made it onstage ). Arcade Fire were excellent, great fun watching one of their drummers who tried to do a Bono by climbing up on one of the speaker stacks. Good to see so many of the crowd knew the songs. The Killers: good way to round off the weekend, efficient if not anything spectacular. Good backdrops.

I saw Avril Lavigne, Delorentos, The Gossip, Interpol, Muse, Sinead O Connor and Arcade Fire. Missed loads of stuff because I was working. The Gossip were AWESOME. Just so honest and raw on stage. Interpol were great too, although I don't really like the new stuff as much. Muse blew me away, almost literally. Arcade Fire were, of course, amazing. Best moment of the weekend? This

My highlights of the weekend are: 1. The National - Absolutely fantastic set, really enjoyed it. however, the biggest disappointment was the length of the set. It took them a while to get set up and were 10 mins late starting which meant they only played for 30 mins. 2. Interpol - Another great gig and set. Almost as good as Oxegen in 2005, which is some achievement considering they were on an outdoor stage this time. 3. I'm from Barcelona - Probably the most fun i had all weekened. Even though the crowd was small, they gave it absolute socks and they have some much energy and fun onstage. the lead singer even went crowd surfing on the first song, bouncers tried to hold him back but he threw he mike at security and just went for it. Throw in a brief appearance by the dude from Ham Sandwich and it was great set. Oh yeah after they finished playing they put on a cd of themselves and stayed dancing around the stage for ages as well. 4. Cold War Kids - They always give it their all on stage. Brilliant version of Hospital Beds. Even though i already seen them twice prior to Oxegen, i was really impressed live by them again. 5. Kings of Leon / Arcade Fire - Really enjoyed the Kings of Leon set on Saturday, they were really good. As for Arcade Fire, i missed the start the finish due to Bright eyes clashing but thought they were good as well from what i seen. If they were on any other stage probably would have been highlight of the weekend, but just a bit harder to get into them on the main stage i felt. Other notable mentions: NEW YOUNG PONY CLUB - Only caught the last 2 songs, but seemed really gud live. TOKYO POLICE CLUB - Another very enjoyable set. RODRIGO AND GABRIELA - My first time seeing them live, thought they were very good, i found it hard to drag myself away from them to see Im from Barcelona, but as mentioned above it was definitely worth it. Disappointments of the weeked: Bright Eyes - Although i missed the start due to Arcade Fire, i thought that although he was good, the setlist was a bit unusual. The length of the National's set!! DElORENTOS - Im not really a fan and dont really know them that well but i was expecting a lot more than them than what we got. NME STAGE on sunday - Really pissed off that stage times changed without being announced properly resulting in missing Gogol Bordello and only seeing the end of CSS

I think conor was on one of his 'you people don't care about my thing' moods since a lot of the crowd seemed to just yammer to one another. I believe in symmetry was pretty cool though, one of my highlights of the weekend.

Highlights - Best set of the weekend was Interpol, love the new songs, especially Pioneer To The Falls. Really great buzz in the audience. KOL was fun, Arcade Fire were great, as were BRMC. Agree with the Biffy Clyro comment above, were better with The Who, but they are still an incredible live band. Luckily found out about the change in stage times for CSS, although had to miss some Bloc Party. Lowlights - managing to miss a ridiculous amount of stuff I really wanted to see, Brian Wilson, Rufus, Maximo Park, Daft Punk, The Gossip... Oh god it goes on. Found it hard to pull myself away from the stupid fancy mudfree bar, pathetic.

I agree with all that's been said. All I can add is roll on November for the National gig - I'm now a complete convert!

King Of Leon, Arcade Fire, Interpol and Tori Amos were my highlights... All savage sets. Im not even familiar with any Tori Amos' material but she put on an excellently sexy show. Funny story: Apparently Tori and Badly Drawn Boy have some sort of history and were supposed to be kept apart. Well they were both playing the Pet Sounds tent and their paths crossed backstage. A friend of mine saw Damon say something to Tori and she just kept walking straight to her bus without even turning around... Then he threw a bottle at the bus and started hurling abuse!!

Yeah i managed to see Maximo Park, they were quite good although i havent gotten their new album so didnt really know a lot of the new songs. As for Rufus, i found it really hard to get into it, didnt think he is really suited for playing festivals

Maximo Park are the perfect festival band, I bought their album 3 weeks ago specifically for Oxegen. Back when visions of immense sunshine, warmth, no scumbags and laid back stagetime schedules were still achievable dreams. Tried to get tickets for Rufus in Vicar St but sold out, grrr.

Spent most of Saturday at Stage 2 ... Pigeon Detectives, the Twang, Biffy, The Gossip, Maximo Park & Interpol (all top top gigs, with Special mention to the Pigeon Detectives ... Good Festival Fun)... Dived in the Pet Sounds inbetween acts, saw some of The Hold Steady & Kittser. the sound in that tent was very poor. Kings of Leon would have been better away from the Main Stage but you can't have everything. Finished off the night with QOTSA. Rokk. I wasn't too impressed with the Sunday lineup, not too many 'must sees'. Enjoyed Bloc Party & CSS ... Calvin Harris was good fun & I think alot of the folks there were only getting in out of the rain. Long Blondes were decent, but didn't really grab me (Kate Jackson is one sassy lady). Good vibe for the Arcade Fire which I was worried about them being on the Main Stage. Headed to the New Bands to catch New Young Pony Club & The National (kudos to the National) ... Old Man Wilson (& his Beach Boys Tribute Band) were the best fun all weekend. Surfs up, dude. After that, I went to catch the end of James ... Dear oh Dear, only about 30 people in that big cavernous tent

In all honesty, who made James a headline act anyway.

James are a quality band. In fact I was thinking of starting a James tribute band and touring Ireland called 'Seamus', covering all the classics like 'rest yersell'(sitdown), 'Story!?'(how was it for you?) and 'rid'(laid) zzz zzz zzz PQ

Indeed, James are a great Singles band ... A hit parade would have been well worth seeing. Have to agree about making them headline, they stood no chance of pulling a crowd. But no way in Haydes, was I missing Old Man Wilson seeing 'Row Row Row your boat'... Twice !!

i never had any affection for james, and would not even think of seeing them live when there were others to watch, in my opinion.
