I wasn't at the concert but how can you say that the Darkness were a let down? I mean...what did you expect...it's the Darkness!!

They aren't the worst band in the world but they didn't deserve the headline spot. I know they were back-up for Bowie pulling out but I just thought that there set was bad. I'm sure hundreds will disagree with me.

I can understand how The Darkness were a let down even if you aren't really into them. I don't particularly like them but I'd like to see what they're like live. I'd imagine they would be absolutely brilliant or total and utter tripe. How were the cure, out of curiousity?

Sorry I just had to get that out of my system. I really can't stand the Darkness. Did anyone see Muse? How were they?

I thought 'Permission To Land' was an average album. But saw a few clips of The Darkness playing live so my curiosity swayed me toward seeing them as I've seen Ocean Colour Scene 5 times before. Big mistake, stick with what ya know. I just thought that the crowd were left waiting way too long in the cold before the band appeared then they over-ran guitar solo's and Justin Hawkin's cockiness got annonying. Bad headline act, in my opinion. Muse were pretty decent. I only know about six of their songs but was very impressed. They would've been better suited in a more compact space like The Green Room but were still ok on the Main Stage.

Cheers! Muse would've been one of the few reasons I'd have gone for even though I'm no diehard fan or anything. However I went to the Munster final instead. Feckin' Kerry...

Great weekend, despite a) the cack weather and b) the timetables selling out by about 2pm on Saturday. The Scissor Sisters were good fun on Saturday, great to watch and really played the crowd like a cheap harmonica. Snow Patrol rocked the Ticket Stage, they sound a lot more powerful live than on record and of course "Run" provided the first great singalong of the weekend. One act I was absolutely blown away with was Simple Kid. Great songs, great performance - low fi but not amateurish. There was a huge crowd in for his set so the word is obviously out. I'll be getting his album pronto. The Killers finished off my Saturday night, good show from them too and plenty of action from the crowd. Caught the Future Kings of Spain on Sunday, great performance from them on the Ticket Stage and nice to see an Irish band getting a decent sized crowd too. Ash were excellent on the main stage, played most of the hits and finished with "Burn Baby Burn" which really fired up the crowd. I enjoyed the Darkness's set myself although to be honest I was pretty wasted at that stage so I can recall precious little of Justin's campery. All told I had a whale of a time, only regret is missing P.J. Harvey whose set clashed with Snow Patrols on Saturday night.

BellX1 first up and as usual they put on a great show with the two apple headed people from the 'Eve, apple of my Eye' video appearing on stage, with Paul giving it loads and sounding brilliant. Looking forward to their gig in Marlay park in August. Franz Ferdinand, played all the hits, great crowd response, Take Me Out probably the anthem of the day. Simple Kid, really good, funky beats, packed tent, banjo, mouth organ and laptop combined for a unique sound on a day when Strokes-esque rock seemed to be the way to go. Bit disappointed with Snow Patrol, way better last time in the Ambassador, the crowd loved them though, and still think Final Straw is one of the albums of 2004 Electric Six were electrifying, featured their 'Gonna take you to a gay bar!' and 'Danger, Danger' Kings of Leon, very cool, first half rocked but then lost some of it's impact. 'Molly's Chambers' and 'Red Morning Light' sounded good. One of the highlights of the day was Razorlight in the New Band Stage, they were excellent and lead singer Johnny Borrell had lots of charisma and great stage presence. Their album is well worth checking out. The Strokes rocked as only they can but lead singer Julian Casablancas remark on how surprised he was that Irish girls were so pretty didn't go down too well. Reptilia and Last Nite were showstoppers though. Caught the end of Hope of the States who had a great video show playing on the roof of the tent during their set and unable to get into the dance tent for Chemical Brothers we opted for the more mellow vibes of Belle and Sebastian, who were chilled out and boppy at the same time. We managed to stay standing until 12.30 before bus and bed beckoned. From the Bellies to the Belles it was an all round fantastic day and even the nightmare of the lack of timetables and the rain couldn't put a dampner on it. Looking forward to next year!!!!

Anyone see HAL? I wasn't there but would like to see what these guys are like after buying their single 'Worry About The Wind'. Any verdicts???

Yeah they were the first act of the weekend. I thought they were pretty decent and looking forward to their upcoming album. Mellow indie that is entertaining live and on the single 'Worry About The Wind'. They also played a cracking tune called 'Let Love Be The Golden Rule'. Republic of Loose were superb. Give A Man A Kick played a blinder too, as did Waiting Room. Quality acts. Tops of the weekend for me were Simple Kid and The Strokes.

Saturday saw Stellastarr* who were pretty impressive considering it started pissing rain and there weren't too many there, decent sound and seemed to be enjoying themselves. Caught first half of Franz Ferdinand who were excellant on the Main stage but left to go see the Things on the new band stage who played a blinder, as usual, and showed everyone why they deserved to be there with the best of them. Sissor Sisters were just tooooo much for me, if you want to see panto stick to the Gaiety. The Rapture weren't too good at all, not helped by the rain, they failed to really take off and get into it, looked a bit bored and seemed to be playing their songs at half speed...or maybe it was me???!! PJ Harvey was fu*king amazing, one of the highlights of the weekend. She had attitude, a kicking band and the sound was great. Kings of Leon were good, didn't really take off as much as their Olympia gig but enjoyable none the less. Saturday ended in a bit of a blur with Xpress-2 in the dance area, which wasn't bad at all, followed by the Chemical Brothers who played a poxy DJ set instead of a gig, which I was disgusted with cos I'd picked that over Orbital's last gig..Nooooooooo! First half of their set was good, great laser show but they lost the plot and started messing with people's heads with bringing the whole place down with a thud...very disappointing. Sunday was a bit of a wash out, but managed to catch the Zuton's on the Ticket stage before it came down bucketing. They were top class, bird on saxaphone was great and they got the crowd going. They dedicated a song to Mighty Stef which was nice, even though he wasn't there to hear it!! Spent most of the rest of the day in a tent waiting for the rain to piss off. Ventured out for the Republic of Loose, best gig of the weekend by far...Mick your a hero! Had the whole tent jammed to the rafters and got the whole crowd to kneel down at one point. They played the gig of their life! The Libertines seemed to be good but couldn't get into it at all, was too excited about Basement Jaxx who played a blinder! Played some old classics and much off KishKash. Let down by the knob that decided to climb up on the sound desk scaffolding and nearly kill himself and still don't understand why people would cheer someone on to jump off??? Assholes. So all in all a good weekend regardless of the weather...but please, please please god let Mr. Bowie come back and play next year...please!!!!

Stellastar were good, Rapture were decent, Scissor Sisters were ok, Republic Of Loose rocked as did The Zutons. Even though every member of The Zutons were great and they feed off eachother well with perfect timing, I just couldn't stop watching the sax player. She was defo the sexiest woman I saw all weekend..... Overall I thought Oxegen was a blast, same again next year please but maybe better headline act!!!
