Only one each please!!
I saw a CD in a record store with the name "Napalm Death" on it and thought it was hilarious. I know nothing at all about the band but they're my choice.

'Scraping Foetus Off The Wheel' is a faily pungent and original one.

Scraping Foetus off the wheel is just one of many aliases of industrial music artist J.G. Thirwell, also known as Foetus, Foetus Inc., Foetus Interruptus, Foetus Erruptus, The Foetus All Nude Review, Foetus Under Glass, You've Got Foetus On Your Breath, Foetus Uber Frisco, Foetus In Your Bed, Foetus Art Terrorism, Foetus Corruptus, The Foetus Symphony Orchestra, and Wiseblood. Bit of theme going on there, anybody spot it? Answers on a postcard, first correct reply gets a Blue Peter badge and a "champion spotter of the obvious" trophy.
Best name for a band I've seen recently: !!!
Yep thats right, three exclamation marks supposedly representing any three quickly repeated percussive sounds you like. Confounding Googlewhackers and webmasters the world over, I haven't seen such naming madness since the artist formerly known as Prince/squiggle fiasco.

I wonder was yer man Thirwell an inspiration for Will Oldham ? He likes to do multiple permutations as well - Palace Brothers, Palace Music, Bonnie Price Billy etc. etc.
There was another band of very silly people in the early 80's who had a squiggle for a name as well. I think it was supposed to be pronounced Freur or something s**te like that. Not surprisingly it wasn't long before they disappeared into the obscurity they so richly deserved.
The Tragically Hip is a pretty cool name, though I'm f**ked if I know anything about their music.

Will Oldham can change his name as many times as he likes, its not going to make his songs any better.

i've an old school mate whose name is, lets say for the purposes of avoiding some sort of legal retribution, Pat McBoner,
so anyway when we were teenagers we formed a band in our local rural town called "Pat McBoner Does Drugs", which wasnt that big a deal until we plastered photocopies of posters for our first (and last) gig all over the towns telegraph poles and many vacant shop fronts.
You can imagine the outrage

Is that pronounced Mc-bohne-er or Mcbonner? If it's the first way, there's two reasons why that band name is funny

I just saw a band called Napalm Beach. I think I like that even better than Napalm Death.
One of my favorite band names:
...And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead

i quite like
"casiotone for the painfully alone".
something fanastically pathetic is evoked there, donchyatink?
they follow through on the promise. i particularly like the lyric:
"in an attempt to get my groove on, i offered you my quicksave coupon".

Hey he got two in! Can't resist, heres another one:
There's a band, I believe they are from Cork, but I'm not sure, called "Red Sea Pedestrians", lead singer bears no resemblence to Charlton Heston sadly.

Yeah they're based in Cork.
My all time favourite is "John Cougar Concentration Camp"
